Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 1, 2026
This policy explains how hermes-assistant ("the app") and the website euijonglee.page handle data. The app and website are operated by Euijong Lee ("I", "me") for personal use only.
1. Who this applies to
The app is a personal automation tool. It is used only by me, with my own Google account. It is not offered to the public, and no other person's Google account is connected to it.
2. Google data the app accesses
The app requests the following Google OAuth scopes:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly— Read messages and settingshttps://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.modify— Read, label, archive, and move messages to trashhttps://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send— Send messages on my behalf
These permissions are used as follows:
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| Read email | To sort incoming messages and prepare a daily summary for me |
| Modify email (labels, archive, read status, trash) | To organize my inbox as I instruct |
| Send email | To send messages or replies only when I ask |
3. How the data is used
Google user data is used only to provide the app's features to me: sorting, organizing, summarizing, and replying to my own email on my instructions. It is not used for any other purpose.
4. Service providers that process the data
- OpenAI: To sort and summarize messages, the subject and content of relevant emails are processed by OpenAI models through my own ChatGPT account. The account's "Improve the model for everyone" setting is turned off, so this data is not used to train OpenAI's models. OpenAI may retain data as described in its privacy policy (https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy).
- Slack: Daily briefings and inbox summaries are delivered to my own private Slack workspace.
No other third party receives Google user data.
5. What the app does not do
- It does not sell Google user data.
- It does not transfer Google user data to advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers.
- It does not use Google user data for advertising.
- It does not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalized or non-personalized AI or machine learning models.
- No human other than me reads the data.
6. Storage and security
- Email messages remain in my Gmail account. The app does not keep a separate copy of my mailbox.
- OAuth tokens are stored only on my own computer and are never published or committed to source control.
- Summaries and processing logs are kept on my own computer and my private Slack workspace until I delete them.
7. Retention and deletion
I can delete the app's stored summaries and logs at any time. When I revoke the app's access, the stored tokens are deleted and the app can no longer access Gmail.
8. How to revoke access
Access can be revoked at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions (Google Account → Security → Third-party apps with account access).
9. Limited Use disclosure
hermes-assistant's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. (https://developers.google.com/terms/api-services-user-data-policy)
10. This website
- The public pages of euijonglee.page do not use cookies or tracking.
- Other areas of this site are private tools used only by me and are protected by authentication.
11. Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated. This app has no users other than me, so there is no public contact address.
